Quilt Binding Class

Supplies Required for Binding Class

In order to take this class, you must have a working knowledge of your sewing
machine (how to wind a bobbin, how to load the bobbin into the machine, how
to thread your machine, how to change a needle, etc.). Please take the time to
become familiar with your machine and to make sure your machine is in
working order. It is suggested to bring your machine manual to class.

Please arrive by 9:30 to set up your machine and get organized as class will begin
promptly at 10:00. There is prep work that must be completed prior to class as
noted below. This lesson will teach you how to prepare and apply binding. You
will not have time to cut/sew/sandwich/quilt a placemat or potholder in class.

Please bring the following supplies to class:
1) 2 placemat size projects (approximately 15” x 18”) that you have already sandwiched,
quilted and trimmed so they are all ready for binding.

2) Binding fabric cut into (2) 2 ½” x WOF strips for each placemat. NOTE: if your placemat
is larger than 15” x 18”, you will need another 2 ½” x WOF strip(s) for each placemat.

3) 2 pot holder size projects (7” or 8” square) that you have already sandwiched, quilted
and trimmed so they are all ready for binding.

4) Binding fabric cut into (1) 2 ½” x WOF strip for each potholder. NOTE: if your potholder
is larger than 8” square, you will need another 2 ½” x WOF strip for each potholder.

5) Thread and bobbins for each project (can coordinate or contrast with the binding)

6) Sewing machine, cord, foot pedal, walking foot and ¼” foot

7) Extra sewing machine needles

8) Basic sewing kit – pins, seam ripper, scissors, thread snips

9) Small ruler (ie; small square ruler or 2 ½” x 6”)

10) Small iron and wool mat (if you have them)

11) Marking pen/pencil

12) Wonder clips (if you have them)

13) Snack – we will not break for lunch
